This project comprises of 8 flats and and 8 bedroom 500sq.m. care home on a brown-field site at the north of Arden near Thormliebank. The client's brief dictated that the care home was  a single storey design, so in order to break down the  visual impact of the building, we decided to treat it as 3 distinct volumes with differing roof forms.

The forms used, the contemporary design and the good daylighting achieved through the use of large windows and light pipes in the roof help avoid an institutional feel and create a domestic ambience.  A combination of render and fibre-cement panels was used for the elevations.
