Arden Phase 3

Social Housing Project

The Arden Phase Three development provides a contemporary affordable housing scheme for Glen Oaks Housing Association, comprising 13 new-build houses and 26 apartments arranged across five individual blocks. Developed on a challenging urban site, the project was designed to maximise the available land while creating a strong sense of place and delivering a diverse range of high-quality homes to meet the needs of the local community.

The masterplan is centred around a landscaped communal courtyard, which forms the heart of the development and provides an attractive shared space for residents. This arrangement allows the full extent of the site to be utilised efficiently while creating clear pedestrian routes, improving natural surveillance and encouraging a stronger sense of community. By introducing this central public space, the development contributes positively to the wider neighbourhood and reinforces the principles of creating safe, welcoming and well-connected places.

The accommodation includes a wide range of house and apartment types, from two-apartment homes for two-person households through to five-apartment family homes for up to six people. Every dwelling was designed in accordance with the principles of Housing for Varying Needs, ensuring high standards of accessibility, adaptability and long-term usability. This varied mix of accommodation provides Glen Oaks Housing Association with a broader housing offer, allowing the development to respond to the changing needs of individuals and families throughout different stages of life.

The completed development successfully combines efficient land use with high-quality urban design, creating an attractive residential environment that balances density with generous communal space. Through thoughtful planning, contemporary architecture and a diverse mix of homes, the project delivers a sustainable neighbourhood that enhances both the site and the wider community.
